I spent all day working on my new computer that I got from work. I finally got a PCI modem that would work. I had installed Windows XP on my new computer to try to get some other junky modem to work without any luck, so I put this new modem in, and it worked fine. It wasn't as simple as all that though. I didn't want to use XP unless I had to. Also, I wanted to use the hard drive with all my stuff on it too, not just the empty one that came with the new computer. The first thing I had to do was install Windows 98 on the new hard drive to make sure the modem would work with Windows 98. After that worked, I had to put my old hard drive and cd burner in the new computer. I copied my files over to the new hard drive because I wanted to repartition my old one. It is a 60GB hard drive that did have a 2GB partition and the rest of the space in the other partition. What I did was split that big partition into 2 so that it now has a total of 3 partitions. I had to format all 3 of the paritions and then install Windows 98 on the 2GB partition. Installing the operating system on a small partition makes a format/reinstall go much faster. The new hard drive also has 2 partitions, so now it looks like I have 5 hard drives.

My new computer works great. I did have 450Mhz, 196MB of ram, 60GB of hard drive space, and a 33.6k modem, but now I have 1GHz, 256MB of ram, 100GB of hard drive space, and a 56k modem. Before, a 3k/sec download was great. Now, my downloads go more than twice as fast as that.

I uploaded another song from Vacation Bible School to my site today. We didn't sing it during the week of Vacation Bible School, but they did play it. I didn't start liking it until I was listening to the cd here at home though. It is "Make a Difference in Me". I went to church for Bible Study last night. The lesson was about hope, and there was no one part of the Bible that it was all about. Rather, there were many verses mentioned that tell of hope. There is a lot of hope in the Bible. In fact, if you click here, you can see that it is mentioned 174 times. Most of the verses for our lesson came from the New Testament except for a few from Isaiah and Psalms.

I uploaded two songs from Vacation Bible School to my site today. The song "Everything We Do" was my favorite song that we sang during the week. "Say His Name, Jesus" was my favorite song that we didn't sing but that we did get to hear during the week. They played "Say His Name, Jesus" during part of the slideshow they showed on the following Sunday with pictures from the week of Vacation Bible School. They did use some of the pictures I took in the slideshow, but I thought of a picture that would have been cute that I don't think anyone took. On Thursday when Jenny and Destiny got on my lap, we had a prayer. To fold my hands for prayer, I had to put my arms around them, and they were bowing their little heads too. I'm sure it must have looked so cute.

I went to church this morning. The sermon today was about the rich young man who came to Jesus to ask him how to attain eternal life. To read the story, click here, hit ctrl+f, and search for rich young. It bugs me sometimes that I have so much money. I worry that I'm trusting in it sometimes, but I know that I'm saving it for a particular reason -- to help with future college tuition and expenses. I'll be relieved when I can spend it and not feel like I'm hoarding money anymore though.

I took my grandma who lives in a rest home for a ride today. I drove her around for almost an hour. We went and looked at her old house. People have moved into it now, and she thinks they're trashing the place. We also went to look at the old old house where she grew up. They're going to be tearing it down before too long. As I drove, she pointed out several buildings and told me what they used to be and pointed out several houses, telling me who lives there or used to live there that she knows. I drove her by the new school buildings and the new methodist church downtown too. I went to church again in the evening, and the sermon was about the letter from Jesus to the church at Pergamum in the book of Revelation. Click here to read the letter.

I volunteered to help at a Cruise In at work. It was to raise money for Christmas presents for orphans. I liked the idea of being able to help out with this. However, I couldn't really find much to do once I got there. There were almost as many employees who came to volunteer as there were people who brought cars. I carried a pan of sauce and then wandered around for two hours before I got some free hot dogs and decided to leave.

At Vacation Bible School, I rode the van and avoided letting Destiny hang on me too much. I jumped over a couple pews to get away from her one time. Jenny fell :( but I helped her up and gave her to her mom for hugging and comfort. :)

At Vacation Bible School, I made name tags, rode the van, carried Jenny up at the beginning and end, and took pictures in all the classes. A little boy named Stefan fell off the van before it stopped completely on the way to church, but he was okay. I sat with Destiny at snack time. I avoided letting Destiny hang on me too much by doing the motions with the music and encouraging her to do the same and then going to help move those tables back down that I had brought up on Sunday. Jenny and Destiny both ended up on my lap after I got back though. I asked the youth minister if I did okay keeping Destiny off me, and he said yeah.

At Vacation Bible School, I rode the van, did all the Jenny carrying, and sat by her at snack time. She didn't eat anything though. She told me a secret on the way down. She had had chicken nuggets earlier from Wendy's and told me not to tell anyone. I don't know where she got them from. I guess her dad must have gotten them for her because her mom told her she hadn't eaten anything all day. When I got back after we took the kids home on the van, Jenny's older sister Hannah had dropped their mom's keys into the sewer drain that their van was parked over, and Eugene crawled under the van and actually got them out with a pole.

At Vacation Bible School, I helped carry in groceries for snack time, made name tags, rode the van, and helped count the people. The bus was pretty crowded, so a 7 year old girl named Destiny sat on my lap. I knew it wasn't safe, and I didn't really want to let her. It would have been better if she had sat on someone's lap in the back if she had to sit on someone's lap, but I'm such a pushover that I let her sit on me and just attempted to use my arms as a seatbelt for her. Destiny took a liking to me. She wanted to hug me and hang on me all the time. This did create a problem. When I carried Jenny up to her class and down for game time, Destiny was there hanging on me, wanting me to carry her too. I played games with their class because Destiny begged me to stay. I carried Jenny up to snack time and Destiny was hanging all over me in line. Once we got sat down, someone told me the youth minister wanted to see me. He advised me that I shouldn't let Destiny hang on me so much since her mom doesn't go to our church and doesn't know us. I could understand that, but it made me pretty upset because I didn't know how I could avoid having her hang on me so much without hurting her feelings. I left snack time and didn't come back in. I just waited to get on the van. Destiny wanted to sit on my lap again, but the driver and I kept her from sitting on my lap by telling her it wasn't actually safe and there was room for her in a regular seat now since they were taking some kids home in our other church van.
