Late one afternoon, President George Bush left the White House and walked down to the edge of the Potomoc River. Dozens of cameramen and reporters followed him out of curiosity. He sat down on the riverbank, removed his socks and shoes and started walking across the river. He walked all of the way across the river to Arlington, then turned around and walked back to Washington, DC, walking on top of the water.

By this time, hundreds of media representatives had gathered to witness the event. President Bush stepped up onto dry ground, put his socks and shoes back on, and returned to the White House.

You could have heard a pin drop. All of the media witnesses were shocked, speechless at what they had observed. And then, as if on cue, the reporters began to write furiously in their notebooks and jabber excitedly into their cell phones.

The next morning, banner headlines boldly proclaimed, "GEORGE BUSH CAN'T SWIM!"
